In 1961, GRAHAM HOOPER (#101) held 3 catches in the Teachers innings of a thrilling tie in B grade. Earlier in the day, he kept the Waratahs innings together making 46 not out after the side slumped to 5-19. The tail rallied, especially 14 year old GEOFF MARSHALL (#l156) who made 22 on debut at number 10. DON FOSTER (#155) and BRUCE McCLENAGHAN (#74) then bowled unchanged in the Teachers' innings, with McClenaghan (6-61) taking the pressure wicket of Teachers' last man with the scores tied.

In 1967, two Waratahs batsmen led their sides to victory when chasing on the second day of the season. In A grade, BILL THOMPSON (#186) made 93 as Waratahs passed University's competitive 216 seven down. When Thompson left at 6-163, there was still much to be done but a 40 run partnership between TERRY BETTS (#205) and K BALDWIN (#204) made sure of the win.

A-Res grade lost miserably on the first innings against University but opener J McDonald (#214) made 90 in the second dig before retiring hurt, adding 72 with Max Schaefer as Waratahs avoided the outright.
