In the days before Boxing Day Test matches, local cricket matches were played.
In 1959, BOB BRENNAN (#127), an excellent all rounder, took his best bowling figures of 7-22 as B grade defended 8-98 v Churches and won.

In A-Res grade, ARTY SEE (#81) performed the rare feat of carrying his bat, making 45 not out of Waratahs second innings 88. Dumaresq still won by an innings with Waratahs playing short.
