In 1984, GRAHAM JOHNSON (#207) made 119 not out as 2nd grade batted out the second day to avoid the outright v St Peters. After making only 131 in a first innings where Victor Crew (#399) made nearly half, Waratahs bowling was no match for St Peters, who declared with a handy lead and then acted as net bowlers for Guiley.

CHRISTIAN QUAIFE (#372) held 3 catches as Ex Services cruised to an easy win over 1st grade.
3rd grade secured their only non-loss of a difficult season, after chasing leather during a two hundred plus partnership between Gary Hamilton and Allan Gray of Hillgrove. 1-10 at stumps, Waratahs batted through the second day after a long partnership of 120 between PETER LANGSTON (#357) and ANDREW DAVIS (#354) until just after tea. With the draw seemingly in their sights, four wickets tumbled in the last half hour until Harry Deiderick (#240) held out Hillgrove in a nerveless 18 ball combination of wild swings, near misses and suicide singles.

In 1990, SUNIL REDDY (#622) took 10-59, playing for 4th grade v Hillgrove. It was only his second game for the club. Reddy took 6-24 as Hillgrove folded for just 121 and then had to watch nervously as Waratahs edged toward first innings points after a 40 run partnership between Joe Beer (#586) and Ian Munday (#595) resurected the innings from 3-7. The veteran Ross Ridley (#8) stayed with Munday until the end but a clatter of wickets saw Waratahs just sneak home with Reddy hitting the winning runs. Reddy was on song in Hillgrove's second innings with 4-35, as Beer and Munday held 7 catches between them.
