In 1957, ERIC SMITH (#82) became the first Waratahs bowler to run up a bowler’s hundred when he captured 5-109 off 33 overs as Armidale High School made 286 on the first day of their A grade game. Former Waratahs star all rounder, Don Paul, a teacher at AHS, made a hundred against a very inexperienced side which had lost many of its former mainstays in the off season.

ALAN GRAY (#26) held three catches at slip.

Smith would repeat the hundred two weeks later against another school boys side, The Armidale School.
