Matthew Whitby's golf story started at Marrickville Golf Club
Golf was introduced to me by my dad, Kerry Whitby, who was a scratch to low single-figure golfer and a Pennants player and captain for more than 30 years. He taught me the game and has had a huge influence on my own journey in golf.
My first memories of golf are at Marrickville Golf Course, not far from where I grew up.

Over the years, I've been a member at Cumberland, where Dad is a Life Member, Eastlake Golf Club and Keysborough on Melbourne's Sandbelt.
My best handicap was 11, although I managed to play to an 8 handicap a couple of times, shooting 80.
One of my personal highlights came on holiday when I was playing with a mate and managed to hit a hole-in-one. Definitely a pretty cool moment.
Another great memory came away from actually playing. I caddied for a good mate who was a very talented golfer when he won the ACT Amateur at Royal Canberra Golf Club. It was a special experience to be alongside him for that.
Royal Canberra remains my favourite course to play, while Augusta National is the course I'd most love to experience one day. It's definitely on the bucket list.
Golf for me started with Dad at Marrickville and has given me some great friendships, experiences and memories along the way.
