Rowley Alexander the Great

Rowley Alexander enjoyed an outstanding career at Manly Cricket Club, marked by significant individual achievements and team success.

During the 1988/89 club championship season, Rowley began in 4th Grade, scoring 52 runs early in the season. His consistent run-scoring saw him progress rapidly, and by season’s end he played a pivotal role in the 1st Grade premiership-winning side. He produced crucial innings of 57* in the semi-final and 20* in the grand final.

Rowley was appointed 1st Grade captain for two seasons in the mid-1990s, an exceptional honour, and was named 1st Grade Captain of the Year in the 1995/96 season.

After several years in retirement, Rowley—then in his 40s—made a remarkable return to the club, playing in the lower grades during the 2008/09, 2009/10, and 2010/11 seasons. He captained 4th Grade during this period and played a vital role in mentoring the next generation of Waratahs players.

Rowley concluded his career with 4,234 runs at an average of 30, including five centuries.
