St George DCC First Grade Player No.304 - Patrick Farhart

After finishing with St George DCC, Patrick Farhart went on to become one of the Premier Physiotherapist in world cricket.

He graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelors and a Masters qualification. Since July 2020 he has been a PHD candidate at the University of Technology, Sydney.

His association with first class and international cricketers for over 35 years has allowed him to combine his love of cricket and his chosen profession. In this time, he has worked with the New South Wales, Sydney Sixes, Hampshire and Australian cricket teams. He has been a consultant to the International Cricket Council’s High Performance Program and has also worked with IPL franchises including the KIngs XI Punjab abd currently The Delhi Capitals.

In August of 2015 Patrick headed off to India to take on the role of Indian team Physio which he held for 4 years years.

After returning back to Australia he eventually started back to Cricket NSW just under 5 years ago, initially as the Head of Sports Science and Sports Medicine and is now currently the CNSW Performance Director.

Patrick has a strong interest in research investigating the causes of injury in fast bowlers and to date has contributed to 18 publications on this subject. He is also involved in the education of physiotherapists in Australia and India to help improve their procedures for the assessment and management of musculoskeletal injury in sports people.

For St George Patrick was a wily pace bowler with an interesting action that allowed him to swing the ball prodigiously. He made his First Grade Debut in the season of 1985-86. He bowled 570.4 overs and claimed 62 wickets at a very decent 22.71. This inluded 3 x 5 wicket hauls.

Patrick also spent a number of years on the St George DCC Management Committee.
