Brett (Bart) Hudgson - wanted to compete
Brett Hudgson, well known as ‘Bart’ has a long history in the Mornington Peninsula Cricket Association playing with a number of clubs as well as with Frankston Peninsula in Victoria Premier Cricket.
He’s won multiple premierships and is currently the Vice president of MPCA

I was 6 playing in the under 12s

Seaford, Pines, Pearcedale, YCW in the Mornington Peninsula Cricket Association and Frankston Peninsula in Victoria Premier Cricket
In which grade and at what age did you make your debut in senior cricket?
14 playing with Dad
What was the highest grade you played and can you remember what you were feeling when you were selected and how did you perform on debut?
In the Morning Peninsula Cricket Association competition I made my firsts debut for Seaford in 1988/89 and scored 67 against Crib Point and was abused all day.
If you can share with our audience, how would you describe yourself as a cricketer?
Opening bat who bowled straight breaks (Bobby Wilson style)
What were your strengths as a player?
A player who hated losing
What was your highest score in senior cricket?
132 for Pines against Hastings in the first grade

What were your best bowling figures in senior cricket?
7 for 57 In the Under 16s grand final vs Long Island and 6 for 39 in the 1sts vs Tigers
Who were the best three fast bowlers you have played against?
Duo of Darren Abblitt and Tim Bateman swing and pace together for Mt Martha

Yallop in the Grand Final GF against Mt Martha 140 not out followed by Bobby Wilson in Country week GF vs Sale Maffra at Junction

Was there any bowler in particular who whatever reason always seemed to cause you a few problems?
Jason “Jugga” Nagel just bowled the slow wobbly cutters stuff
Can you recall a time when you thought, wow, this is a step or two up from what you were used to and you really had to knuckle get through that period of play?
Any final is step up from Home and Away season.
Who was the best wicket keeper you’ve seen firsthand playing with or against?
Nick Esipoff was clearly the most annoying. Dave Anderson from Seaford was the best.
Who are the two players you admired most in terms of skills and competitive spirit in the competitions you played?
Growing up admired Paul Hartle and Steve Johnson
Who was the best captain you had the good fortune to play with?
Stella Jackson was awful, loved playing under Rama (Ricky Ramsdale)
Who has been your funniest team mate?
Andrew Kitson or Gavin Moore
Can you recall some banter or an exchange on the cricket field that still makes you laugh today?
Jason Gilbert telling Barrie McCormack he bowls pies at the non strikers end. Baz was getting redder and redder.

4 first grade premiership wins and been involved with Country Week flag

1994/95 Premiership win at Pines vs Mt Martha and 2013/14 vs Delacombe Park in my last senior game

What are your hobbies?
Footy, Golf and trying to improve MPCA to become the best competition in country Vic (I’m currently the Vice President)

Do as I say not as I do and stay away from Robbie Jackson after 6
